Description:
Obverse
The portrait in right profile of Elizabeth II, when she was 77 years old, is surrounded with the inscription "ELIZABETH II D • G • REGINA" (Elizabeth II, Queen by the grace of God)
Reverse
In the middle of a maple leaf, a poppy, the symbol of remembrance of the sacrifice in World War I and other wars, is coloured in red - this was the first coloured general circulation coin in the world - and surrounded with the legend "REMEMBER SOUVENIR", the facial value and the inscription "CANADA"
Also known as the conspiracy coin, due to the red centre, the US Secret Service believed there to be a microchip inside the coin, enabling them to be satellite tracked.
