2 laurel branches enclosing the coat of arms of the country: a central vertical spear behind a traditional shield behind which two arms carry swords (both arms symbolize the two ethnic groups in Djibouti: the Afars and the Issas).
The coat of arms of Djibouti was adopted during the declaration of independence June 25, 1977.
Reverse
Djibouti francolin (Pternistis ochropectus)facing right (the Francolin is a threatened bird of Djibouti).
Gogorri in Somali and Kokaaqe in Afar languages, it is endemic and lives only in the Monts Goda and Mabla (Day and Medeho forests).
