Description:
Obverse
The "Eclipse of the Crescent Moon" or "The Stars of Eger" written by Géza Gárdonyi in 1899 is widely known as Hungary's favourite novel.
This base metal collector coin issued by the Magyar Nemzeti Bank, Central bank of Hungary is also devoted to the 150th birth-anniversary of the author.
The obverse presents the portrait of the writer designed by Géza Benő Pogány. The coin is part of the series "Children's Literature" started in 2001 including four coins (János vitéz, Lúdas Matyi, A Pál utcai fiúk, Toldi).
Reverse
The reverse reflects to the work "Women of Eger" of the famous Hungarian painter Bertalan Székely, struck in a reversed proof quality (the letters of the relief are polished).
