Description:
Obverse
The obverse is gold plated. It features the sun. Beneath the central motif, the inscription LATVIJAS REPUBLIKA (Republic of Latvia) is arranged in a semicircle.
Reverse
The reverse is in silver. In the lower part, a fragment of a waning moon is featured by applying frosting; in the upper part, a constellation is set out in relief. The year 2002 is inscribed near the edge to the left of the constellation. The inscription 1 LATS, arranged in a semicircle, is placed along the edge to the right of the constellation.
