Features the Vytis, surrounded by the inscription LIETUVA (Lithuania), denomination (50 litas), year of issue (2001), and the mintmark of the Lithuanian Mint. At the bottom are fragments of newspapers and documents from the end of 19th c.–early 20th c., closely related to the activities of Jonas Basanavičius.
Reverse
The reverse of the coin displays the portrait of Jonas Basanavičius. The facsimile of his signature and the years 1851-1927 are displayed to the left of the portrait.
