In the lower half, part of "Atacul de la Smârdan" ("The Smârdan Assault"), a painting by Nicolae Grigorescu; in the upper half, the face value of "100 LEI", Romania's coat of arms and the year of issue "2007", as well as the circular inscriptions "ROMANIA" and "ATACUL DE LA SMARDAN".
Reverse
A scene featuring the meeting of the two chambers of the Parliament of Romania when the country's independence was proclaimed; above, the year 1877; in the upper part, "PROCLAMAREA INDEPENDENTEI" inscribed circularly.
