The inscriptions along the rim framed by a circle of dots: at the top — «ДВА РУБЛЯ 1995 г.» (TWO RUBLES 1995), at the bottom — «БАНК РОССИИ» (BANK OF RUSSIA).
Reverse
A portrait of A.S. Griboyedov, to the left - a candle, a goose-quill in an inkpot, an opened book and a laurel branch. The inscription at the bottom along the rim - «А.С. ГРИБОЕДОВ» (A. S. GRIBOYEDOV) and over it to the left - the date "1795" and to the right - the date "1829".
