Obverse
In the center - the Emblem of the Bank of Russia (the two-headed eagle designed by I.Bilibin, lower - the semicircular inscription - "БАНК РОССИИ" (BANK OF RUSSIA) framed by a circle of dots and inscriptions along the rim: at the top - "ДВА РУБЛЯ" (TWO RUBLES), at the bottom - "2000", the letters to the left indicate the metal sign and the fineness, to the right - the fine metal content and the mint trade mark.
Reverse
To the left -the portrait of S.V.Kovalevskaya in an oval, to the right - architectural monuments of St. Petersburg and Stockholm, lower - the inscription in two lines: "СOФЬЯ КОВАЛЕВСКАЯ" (SOFIA KOVALEVSKAYA) and the dates "1850" "1891" divided by a horizontal line, at the bottom - a rose, a triangle, a sheet of paper, dividers, an opened book, the planet Saturn.
