In the center - the Emblem of the Bank of Russia (the two-headed eagle designed by I.Bilibin, lower - the semicircular inscription - "БАНК РОССИИ" (BANK OF RUSSIA) framed by a circle of dots and inscriptions along the rim: at the top - "ТРИ РУБЛЯ" (THREE RUBLES), at the bottom - the date "2000", the letters to the left indicate the metal sign and the fineness, to the right - the fine metal content and the mint trade mark.
Reverse
The figure "2000" against the background of the Australian continent. In the three zeros combined with each other - the pictures of a runner, jumper and weight-lifter, under the zeros - the semicircular inscriptions along the rim: "CITIUS" "ALTIUS" "FORTUS". At the top - the inscription in three lines: "XXVII ЛЕТНИЕ ОЛИМПИЙСКИЕ ИГРЫ" (THE XXVIIth SUMMER OLYMPIC GAMES), at the bottom - a kangaroo and the inscription: "СИДНЕЙ" (SYDNEY) divided by a horizontal line.
