Obverse
In the center - the Emblem of the Bank of Russia (the two-headed eagle designed by I.Bilibin, lower - the semicircular inscription - "БАНК РОССИИ" (BANK OF RUSSIA) framed by a circle of dots and inscriptions along the rim: at the top - "ТРИ РУБЛЯ" (THREE RUBLES), at the bottom - the date "2000", the letters to the left indicate the metal sign and the fineness, to the right - the fine metal content and the mint trade mark.
Reverse
A space man being in the state of weightlessness in the open space, at the top to the left - the first artificial Earth satellite, lower - an atom model, at the bottom - a starting space ship, at the top to the right - the Mendeleyev Periodic System. The inscription at the bottom along the rim - "РОССИЯ НА РУБЕЖЕ ТЫСЯЧЕЛЕТИЙ" (RUSSIA ON THE THRESHOLD OF MILLENNIUMS).
