Obverse
Depicts the relief image of the Emblem of the Bank of Russia - the two-headed eagle with wings down, and the semicircular inscription under it "" (BANK OF RUSSIA), framed by a circle of beads. The inscriptions along the rim divided by dots indicate the denomination of the coin "ДВАДЦАТЬ ПЯТЬ" (TWENTY FIVE ROUBLES) and the year of issue "2014", between them - the indication of the metal according to the D.I. Mendeleyev Periodic System of Elements, the purity, the Saint Petersburg mint trade mark and the fine precious metal content.
Reverse
On the right part of the disc, against a background of a page of Lermontov’s manuscript – the scene of a duel, under it – dates: "1814" and "1841", below – the portrait of Mikhail Lermontov according to the painting by K.A. Gorbunov, over it – the facsimile signature of the writer and two characters of his drama "Masquerade".
