Description:
Obverse
The coin is dedicated to a poet being simultaneously a romanticist and a thinker, who has enriched the Ukrainian literature with philosophical lyrics and religious cosmic objects. Bohdan-Ihor Antonych’s poetry has played an important role in development of the Ukrainian literary modernism.
On the coin obverse there are the Small Coat of Arms of Ukraine with the semicircular inscription (National Bank of Ukraine) to the left, the coin issue year 2009 below and the coin face value (2 Hryvni) in the centre; to the left and right of the face value, diagonally, there is a composition representing in a conventionalized form figurative interpretation of Antonych’s poetry components (cosmic – to the right, vegetative – to the left) and the Mint logo of the National bank of Ukraine.
Reverse
On the coin reverse there is Bohdan-Ihor Antonych’s portrait against the background of a vegetative pattern; to the right 1909 1937 (years of his life) and beneath the semicircular legend (Bohdan-Ihor Antonych).
