Obverse
On the left there is a depiction of an anchor and a steering-wheel, against whose background there is the small National Emblem of Ukraine is depicted; in the middle there are engraved horizontal symbolic waves above which there are inscriptions: УКРАЇНА/2004 (above), 5/ГРИВЕНЬ (beneath). There is also the Mint logotype of the Bank of Ukraine.
Reverse
There is a depiction of an ice-breaker amidst blocks of ice - in the foreground, and a boat in pure water - in the background; there are the inscriptions: "КАПІТАН БЄЛОУСОВ" ("Captain Belousov"), above in semicircle, and beneath - КРИГОЛАМ (Icebreaker) horizontal depiction against the mirror background.
