Obverse
On the coin obverse there is a composition: the Small National Emblem of Ukraine with the legend НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ БАНК УКРАЇНИ (National Bank of Ukraine) thereunder, a conventionalized Prymachenko's work 'Cosmic Space Horse' of 1983, under it - the coin face value and issue year: 5 ГРИВЕНЬ/2008 (5 hryvnias/2008).
Reverse
On the coin reverse there is Maria Prymachenko' portrait against the background of her 1991 work 'Ukrainian Sunflower', above it there is the arcuate inscription МАРІЯ ПРИМАЧЕНКО (Maria Prymachenko); on the left - the vertical legend indicating her life years 1908-1997.
