Description:
Obverse
On the coin obverse in the circle made of a conventionalized vegetal ornamentation there is a fragment depiction of 'Holy Teklya' fresco of 11th century. Above, there is the small National Emblem of Ukraine. Around the coin circumference there is an inscription: УКРАЇНА. Underneath - the year of issue - 1997 and in two lines: 20 ГРИВЕНЬ, the coin's face value. The word ГРИВЕНЬ is located around the coin circumference. On the left and on the right from the figure 20 there are designations of Аg 925 and 31,1, coin weight in fineness.
Reverse
On the coin reverse in centre there is depicted the Savior Cathedral's western facade. Around the coin circumference there are inscriptions: ЧЕРНІГІВ (Chernihiv)- on the left, СПАСЬКИЙ СОБОР(the Savior Cathedral's)- above and ХI ст (11th c.)- to the right. The inscriptions are separated from one another with solar signs. Underneath, there is a ribbon with the inscription: ДУХОВНІ СКАРБИ УКРАЇНИ (Spiritual Treasures of Ukraine).
