Obverse
The portrait in left profile of Thomas Jefferson, the 3rd President of the United States from 1801 to 1809, is surrounded with the lettering "LIBERTY" and the motto: "IN GOD WE TRUST".
Reverse
A representation of Monticello, President Thomas Jefferson's Virginia home, is accompanied with the legend "MONTICELLO" and surrounded with the facial value in full, the motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and the lettering "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA". For the first time, the Philadelphia mint mark appears to indicate the change of alloy. This started from 1942 P and 1942 S, others "1942" being included in KM#192. The mint mark is at the coin top whereas it is on the right on KM#192.
