On the right, the portrait of prince Alexandru Ioan Cuza and his name inscribed in a half circle; on the left, from top to bottom, the face value of the coin, the inscription “ROMANIA”, Romania’s coat of arms, and the year of issue.
Reverse
In the upper half, an image depicting the armies of the Romanian Principalities, Moldavia and Wallachia, meeting at Socola camp and the inscription “1859”; below the image, partly overlapping it, the distinguishing mark of the General Staff from 1860 and the inscription “150 DE ANI STATUL MAJOR GENERAL”.
